Litchfield Beach Fish House
This Lowcountry fish house serves a full menu of fresh seafood, and they also keep a supply of pirate hats and shark teeth for the kids to get into character while they work off some energy on the playground. How’s that for family-friendly? Pretty great, we’d say.
Like most seafood restaurants in this part of the world, hush puppies and honey butter hit the table here shortly after you find your seat, making for a delicious little snack while you decide what to have for dinner.
The Soups and Salads list includes several dishes worth considering, depending on your appetite. For something warm and savory, try the New England or Lowcountry Clam Chowder, or check out the Fish Stew. For a fresh and light dish, try a Grilled or Fried Shrimp, Scallop, or Grouper Salad.
If the table is in the mood for a little something extra to nibble on while waiting for entrees, Litchfield Beach Fish House offers and Appetizer menu with highlights like Peel and Eat Shrimp, Muddy Bay Oysters, Soft Shell Crab, and Fried Bay Oysters, available in regular or Cajun flavors.
In addition to a Daily Fresh Catch that’s straight off the boats, Entrée options include Stuffed Local Shrimp, Sesame Scallops (bacon-wrapped, rolled in sesame, fried), and for the hungry among us, a Seafood Sampler (fried or Cajun fresh flounder, shrimp, scallops, oysters, crab ball), and a Platter (grilled or fried flounder, shrimp, scallops, and oysters).
Those in the mood for a sandwich also have several options, including Po’ Boy-style Shrimp, Grouper, Flounder, Scallops, Soft Shell Crab, Crab Cakes, Oysters. There’s also a Chicken Sandwich and Burger on the menu for those who’ve had their fill of seafood.
Several casual seating options are available here, including outdoor picnic tables and wooden tables and chairs in the main dining room. The theme inside is fun, if a little hard to pin down – pirate flags, sports memorabilia, fish art, and party lights draped on the walls. Parents and kids will probably agree that the highlight, other than the fare, is the playground out back that’s outfitted with a makeshift pirate ship, slides, and planks. Litchfield Beach Fish House is a no-frills affair, but if what you’re looking for is a fresh and hearty meal of hushpuppies and fish, then look no further than this funky kid-friendly eatery.
